Fall In Love With These Three Spring-Blooming Small Desert trees

The month of March marks the beginning of Spring planting season in Arizona. It's the time to spruce up your landscaping with new plants and trees. Trees are the anchor plants that help set the tone for your entire yard or patio. And, if your home is like many in our urban desert, it may not have a very large yard. But, that doesn't mean that it has to be boring.

One of these small trees may be just what your landscaping needs to give your yard a new updated look. Desert Willow (Chilopsis linearis), Texas Olive (Cordia boissieri) and Texas Mountain Laurel (Sophora secundiflora) are three great small trees that do well in our desert heat and don't require a lot of water. Texas Mountain Laurel and Texas Olive can also be grown as large shrubs. They have beautiful flowers that will brighten up your landscaping every Spring.

Remember the following tips:

  • Check out the plants at your local plant nursery to see what you like

  • Find out the mature size of the plant or tree on the nursery tag

  • Plant in an area that is big enough for the tree when it is fully grown

  • Water your tree adequately

  • Last of all Enjoy!

Call us at (520) 370-5697 if you have any questions about these great small trees or if you need help with a Spring planting, cleanup or irrigation inspection. Let us help you have a yard you can enjoy all year round.
