Planting a plant or shrub is easier than you think. Here are eight tips to get it right. Follow the link to see the step by step video for how to plant correctly.

8 Steps to Plant a Plant the Right Way

  1. Buy healthy plants to give them the best chance of success

  2. Set your plants out before planting to make sure they are planted where you want them

  3. Check the plant roots to make sure there are no girdling roots or roots sticking out of the bottom of the container

  4. Dig your hole the same depth as and twice as wide as your container

  5. Carefully remove your plant from the container and set in the hole

  6. Cover the hole with the native dirt (the exception for planting a non-desert adapted or native plant is to amend the soil with planting soil)

  7. Run irrigation to the new plant

  8. Enjoy your new plant!
